Unexpected

We set out thinking every answer

Would arrive before the night

Like the road would rise to meet us

Every time we lost our sight

But the days became much longer

Than we ever thought they’d be

And the things we thought would carry us

Changed unexpectedly

Some things fall apart

Some things lead you home
