Refined in the Furnace

I walked through the fire thinking

I was gonna disappear

Smoke in my lungs

Ash in my hands

Drowning in the fear

Every dream I thought was sacred

Burned down to the wire

But the flame that tried to break me

Only took me higher

When the heat came crashing down

I heard Heaven make a sound

I was refined in the furnace

Tempered by the flame

Every scar became a story

Every loss became a name

I survived the fire

Didn’t drown in the smoke

What the enemy meant for ending me

Only made me whole

There were nights the silence thundered

Like the sky forgot my name

I kept reaching through the darkness

While the walls went up in flames

But the God who leads the wanderers

Never left me there alone

He was carving something stronger

Deep inside my soul

And the pressure built inside

Till the broken came alive

I was refined in the furnace

Tempered by the flame

Every chain became a memory

Every wound became a strength

I survived the fire

Now the fear has lost control

What was meant to tear me open

Only forged my soul

The heat was real

The pain was real

But so was mercy

So was healing

And I can finally see

The fire didn’t consume me

It revealed me

I was refined in the furnace

Standing in the light

Now the ashes underneath me

Are the proof I survived

Now my heart is made of gold
